Anybody who has practiced dentistry, been present during a dental operation, or even anyone who has had a dental procedure performed on them, knows how delicate the procedure can be. Something as simple as filling a cavity requires precision to be a success. This is why it is important to ensure that every piece of equipment in your dentistry is at the top of its game.
Here at NES Group Medical, we know that simply lighting a patient’s mouth in the correct way could be the thing that stands in the way of a successful procedure. We have a wide range of dental lights available that are set to fit into any dental practice. If you have any questions about what type of light you should be using for your practice or how to install one correctly, please do not hesitate to ask us these questions by giving us a call or dropping us an email!
Maybe you’re new to the practice of setting up a dentistry and you’re asking yourself just why the lighting in the room is so important. Well, it’s important for a number of reasons, but first, it may help to understand that there are two types of light that you should focus on installing: Ambient lights and Practical/Task Lights. Both are equally as important, but for different reasons.
Why You May Want Dental LED Lights
Ambient lighting is the lighting that the patient will first experience when they enter the room and sit down in the chair. It is the lighting that will be present whilst you are doing your paperwork and preparation procedures also, so you want to make sure that it provides enough light to be practical, as well as a calming and welcoming atmosphere. The general consensus with ambient lighting is that it should make the room look well-lit and clean. There should be no dark shadows in the corners that could put the patient on edge when they enter the room, and they should be aware that they are stepping into a room designed for medical procedures.
Practical lighting should work hand in hand with ambient lighting and should only be present when a procedure is actually taking place. Dental LED lights are a popular example of this. They provide a focussed, brighter source of light than is present in the ambient lighting of the room, which allows the dentist to carry out their operations safely and to a high standard. In the same way, you wouldn’t want to see shadows in the corner of the room; you wouldn’t want to have your vision compromised by shadows in the patient’s mouth that may result in you missing something crucial or making a mistake.
